Integrations

Systems integration and API development

Most businesses do not need new software so much as their existing software talking to itself. The CRM does not know what the helpdesk knows, the calendar does not know what the phone system knows, and a person copies between them.

We build the connections, including the awkward ones. A lot of business software has a web interface and nothing behind it, so where no API exists we automate the browser instead and work against the system as it actually is.

Talk to us about this

What you get

  • CRM, calendar, and helpdesk synchronisation
  • Messaging and telephony integration
  • Browser automation where no API is available
  • Data mapping between mismatched systems
  • Error handling and retry logic
  • Monitoring so silent failures surface

How it works

  1. 01Map the systemsWhat each tool holds, what it exposes, and where the data actually has to move.
  2. 02Pick the route inOfficial API where one exists, browser automation where one does not. Both are legitimate; the second is often the only option.
  3. 03Build with failure in mindRetries, error handling, and alerting. Integrations break when a vendor changes something, and you should hear about it from us, not a customer.
  4. 04MonitorA sync that quietly stopped is the expensive failure. Everything we ship is watched.

Common questions

What if the software we use has no API?

We use browser automation, which drives the web interface the way a person would. That is the normal case for a lot of vendor portals and internal tools: they have a web interface and nothing behind it. It means we can work against the system as it exists with no cooperation needed from the vendor.

Is browser automation reliable?

Reliable enough to run in production, with the caveat that it depends on the page staying broadly stable, so we build in error handling and alerting. Where a real API exists we use it instead; browser automation is the answer when there is no alternative, not the default.

Which tools do you integrate with?

In practice HubSpot, Airtable, Outlook, WhatsApp, Stripe, calendars, and telephony come up most. The list is not really the constraint; if a tool has an API or a web interface, there is usually a route in.

What happens when a vendor changes their API?

Integrations break, which is why we build monitoring in from the start. You should hear about a broken sync from an alert rather than from a customer asking why nothing happened.
